|While we as photographers busy ourselves with pursuing trains
in pursuit of images which show the sheer variety and drama of railways,
the people whose job it is to actually run the railway are often overlooked.
This is a shame in many ways, since these are the people who have to endure
all manner of working conditions: long hours, cold, heat, the danger inherent
in any industry and yes, the intrusion on their domain by
This small gallery then, places the workers in the frame as it were and puts the trains into the role of backdrop and is a small act of gratitude on my part for the almost universal cooperation and tolerance I've benefited from in the past. Certainly the rest of Railgrafx would be much the poorer without it.
