Uniform
Gauge
Line - 2

   nnn

Queensland Rail's foray into competing on the standard gauge line had very modest beginnings, with a service from Casino to Brisbane. Mostly notable for its geriatric motive power, train lengths were very short and it was cruelly referred to as the Airtrain because of the paucity of paying freight. I found it an elusive thing to photograph and my one chance to do so was thwarted by very dull weather and a closure on the Lion's Road forcing a drive the long way round through Rathdowney. The little but abundantly powered train proved very difficult to chase through the hills of the Border Range, but I did get some shots and here it is crossing Gradys Creek near Cougal. 16 March 2004.
