Perhaps it's a function of growing up in Tasmania, where the weather is quite often less than ideal, but I have always enjoyed taking photos in poor weather. It represents a challenge of several degrees, but to be successful it does require a more imaginative approach. The emphasis becomes one more of composition. It's a style that also suits the power of black and white photography, so some of the images here were taken in that medium. Interestingly enough, in going through my images for this web site, there are relatively few shots from Queensland that I felt I could use and it occurred to me this is because Queensland is generally a place where the weather is either sublime, or when it does turn inclement it is so wet that photography is almost impossible. Perhaps that's another reason they say Queensland is perfect one day and beautiful the next!
